Root Chakra (Muladhara)
Location: Base of spine, pelvic floor
Color: Red
Element: Earth
Sound: LAM
Governs:
- Survival instincts and basic needs
- Physical vitality and health

- Ability to provide for yourself
When Balanced: You feel grounded, safe, and present in your body. You trust that your basic needs will be met. You have physical vitality and stamina.
When Blocked: Fear, anxiety, financial insecurity, feeling disconnected from your body, chronic fatigue, immune issues, difficulty manifesting physical needs.
When Overactive: Materialism, greed, resistance to change, hoarding, excessive need for security.
In Magic: Work with the root chakra for grounding after ritual, manifestation of physical needs, prosperity magic, protection work, connecting with earth energies.
Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana)
Location: Lower abdomen, below navel
Color: Orange
Element: Water
Sound: VAM
Governs:
- Creativity and creative expression
- Sexuality and sensuality
- Emotions and emotional flow

- Relationships and connection

When Blocked:Creative blocks, sexual dysfunction, emotional numbness, inability to feel pleasure, rigid thinking, fear of change, reproductive issues.
When Overactive:Emotional overwhelm, addiction to pleasure, sexual obsession, drama addiction, boundary issues.

Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura)

When Blocked:Low self-esteem, inability to make decisions, victim mentality, lack of direction, digestive issues, feeling powerless.
When Overactive:Controlling behavior, aggression, perfectionism, workaholism, need to dominate, excessive competitiveness.
In Magic:Work with the solar plexus for confidence spells, success magic, manifestation work, breaking curses, warrior energy, personal power rituals.
Heart Chakra (Anahata)
Location: Center of chest
Color: Green or Pink
Element: Air

Throat Chakra (Vishuddha)

When Overactive:Talking excessively, gossiping, interrupting, using words to manipulate, inability to listen.
In Magic:Work with the throat chakra for communication spells, truth-telling, singing/chanting power, speaking spells into being, breaking silence, finding your voice.
Third Eye Chakra (Ajna)

Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)

When Blocked:Spiritual disconnection, lack of purpose, closed-mindedness, cynicism, depression, feeling lost.
When Overactive:Spiritual bypassing (using spirituality to avoid reality), disconnection from body and earth, spiritual elitism, confusion, dissociation.
In Magic:Work with the crown chakra for divine connection, enlightenment practices, channeling higher guidance, understanding soul purpose, cosmic magic.
The Order of the Chakras
Root to Crown: The Path of Rising Energy
The chakras follow the body's natural architecture, beginning at the base of your spine and ascending to the crown of your head. This isn't arbitrary. Energy moves this way—from earth through flesh to spirit, from matter into light.
When you work with chakras in this order, you're following the path of kundalini as it rises through the central channel. You're honoring how we develop energetically: first survival, then creation, then power, then love, then voice, then vision, then transcendence.

Crown to Root: The Descent Back to Earth
Sometimes you reverse this, working from crown down to root:
- When closing a ritual, sealing energy from sky back down into earth
- After psychic work, when you need to ground what you've opened
- When exploring how spirit descends into matter, how the divine becomes flesh
But these are specific practices for specific purposes. For teaching, for tables of correspondence, for learning the system—begin at the root and climb.
